    Myriad Genetics, Inc. is in search of an experienced healthcare billing leader to serve as its Director of Revenue Cycle for a group of products that represent pioneering advances in the field of molecular diagnostics.  Due to continued growth and expansion of our portfolio, this newly-created position is responsible for the general supervision and management of the billing department for multiple products. This position joins an elite team building a culture of revenue cycle excellence and will deploy direct and influence leadership to deliver material results to the company. The Director, Revenue Cycle reports directly to the Vice President, Revenue Cycle and will serve as a key thought partner for the Vice President as well as business unit leaders throughout the company.

    Responsibilities

    • Drives a culture of continuous improvement that engages direct reports and team members.
    • Effectively communicates company, group and organizational strategies and objectives and is able to translate those objectives to individual contributors on the team.
    • Actively contributes to employee development plans and processes.
    • Hire, develop and train qualified billing employees
    • Develops a thorough understanding of systems, processes and payor-specific reimbursement mechanisms and billing requirements, contributing in the proactive identification of opportunities for revenue cycle improvement and enhancement.
    • Coaches and manages the performance and development of all billing managers, supervisors, and leads.
    • Develops and executes action plans to ensure timely collections and timely follow-up.
    • Maintain the billing system, including contract pricing, account valuation, test pricing and coding, and expert-level knowledge of billing system functions and processes
    • Direct the Billing operations, including cash receipts, claim submissions, appeals, collections from insurance companies and institutions, monthly bank account reconciliation, bad debt and revenue adjustments, and month-end reporting of Accounts Receivable activity.
    • Prepares analysis and uses data as a key driver to plan, organize, manage, and control collection processes.
    • Provides direction and coordination for the development and implementation of performance and quality improvement processes for product revenue cycles.
    • Analyzes data to identify trends related to denials and rejections; develops and executes plans to avoid, reduce, and resolve denials and rejections.
    • Develops relationships with third-party revenue cycle influence leaders to anticipate and address issues.
    • Manages the teams responsible for timely posting of cash receipts, including but not limited to third parties, patients, and facilities.
    • Ensures operational controls are in place to avoid unnecessary write-offs.
    • Organizes and plans improvements in clinically-based denial resolution strategies.
    • Manages relationships with various consultants and vendors to support revenue cycle processes.
    • Creatively uses technology and innovation to solve issues and improve processes.
    • Directs and ensures timely completion of projects/work plans.
    • Stay current on all managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payor regulations that impact billing activities.
    • Must be able to interpret and present revenue cycle reports to C-suite executives, finance, and business-unit leadership.
    • Ensure that employees receive necessary training to meet their needs and regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Coordinate payor reviews with Customer Service to meet company goals for bad debt.
    • Manage Days of Sales Outstanding (DSO) and old accounts to meet company goals.
    • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding, DSO reduction, accounts receivable, HIPPA, and EDI claims submission methods.
    • Assists with requests for information from MGI Finance and Accounting and external auditors.
    • Participate in the Quality Assurance plan.
    • Ensure staff compliance with applicable CLIA and HIPAA regulations.

     

    • Perform annual performance reviews of billing supervisors and other direct reports and take appropriate promotion or corrective action related to staff performance

    Qualifications

    Supporting documentation for the education and experience requirements are maintained in the employee’s personnel file.

     

    1. Meets minimum education and experience requirements:
      1. Master’s degree in business field or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience
      2. Five years of experience in the health insurance industry or operations
      3. Two years of experience in accounts receivable
      4. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with data tools
