    Name
    Myriad Women's Health
  • Overview

A member of the Commercial Operations team, the Interface Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining and refining EMR (Electronic Medical Records) integrations with clinical customers.  This involves configuration of HL7 and API-based interfaces, and of the platform and pipeline that supports them. We use a proprietary python-based framework for ingesting and generating HL7, and the Interface Engineer will leverage that to support HL7 customizations and new clinical workflows.  We manage our interfacing through javascript-based third-party middleware (Mirth), and the Interface Engineer will help support and extend this platform. The Interface Engineer works closely with Interface Specialists and Project Managers, who coordinate our integration work, as well other Interface Engineers.  They will also collaborate with the Engineering and Program Management teams on architecture and infrastructure design projects related to our EMR platform.

We see EMR as an opportunity to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve patient and provider experience.  EMR currently supports a substantial proportion of business, and we’re looking for candidates who are excited to find ways to take it even further.

This position interacts primarily with other members of the EMR team—particularly with the specialists providing project management for a given integration.  They will also work with technical resources at external clients and EMR system vendors to identify and implement solutions for integrations that require additional coordination.

The Interface Engineer will collaborate with peers in the Software Engineering organization on projects that involve code belonging to outside teams.  They will also work with operational groups (Intake and Client Services in particular) on discovery and validation of engineering projects touching their workflows.

They will work with IT/SRE on the health and maintenance of team technical infrastructure.

They will work with Lab Directors, Quality Assurance, the Reporting team, Information Security, and Legal to ensure best practices are being followed for exchange of clinical information

    Responsibilities

Provide technical support for establishing new partner interfaces
Support and expand the functionality and health of our integration toolset, including middleware and related services
Support new company initiatives that have EMR components

Offer backline support for issues that interface specialists cannot resolve
Represent Interface Engineering in technical pipeline discussions

    Education and Experience:

    • A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in engineering, scientific, or other quantitative discipline.
    • 2 or more years of experience in healthcare, providing technical solutions in EMR and/or LIS systems.

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Engaging personality and service mentality while interacting with clients and vendors.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and proven ability to see projects through to successful completion.
    • Highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
    • Knowledge of Salesforce.com, or a similar CRM, and other business programs. (Preferred)
