  • Overview

    The Strategic Product Director – Payer Solutions, Neuroscience develops evidence production strategies and drives the tactical execution necessary to win reimbursement for a product or group of products that represent pioneering advances in the field of molecular diagnostics.  This role establishes collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, gathers payer evidence requirements and needs, evaluates current and/or existing data sets, and translates gathered insights into a cohesive and actionable approach that accelerates reimbursement of assigned product(s).  If successful, assigned product(s) will achieve >80% covered lives reimbursed by 2020. This position joins an elite team to lead cross-functional initiatives and deploy influence leadership to make novel diagnostic solutions accessible to more patients, more quickly.


    This position can be remote, with 50% travel to Mason, OH


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Directly contribute to and participate in product life cycle planning and overall clinical development activities for assigned product(s) in oncology, or autoimmune, or neuroscience categories.
    • Interact with customer-facing account teams to understand payer needs and satisfy those needs with evidence that convinces payers to cover assigned products.
    • Independently assess payer/reimbursement (health plans, self-funded employers, PBMs, and technology assessment organizations) evidence requirements and work across internal R&D, Business Unit, and Medical Affairs teams to ensure that evidence is produced to support product reimbursement.
    • Analyze current evidence gaps in payer medical policies and technology assessments for assigned product(s); conceptualize clinical validity and clinical utility studies needed to fill those gaps.
    • Scan the state-of-clinical affairs within assigned product area, future clinical or therapeutic developments, competitor entries and incumbents, and use those insights to develop practical evidence-development approaches.
    • Drive completion of critical evidence production milestones and related project priorities across multiple internal/external stakeholder groups.
    • Partner with statistics and clinical development teams to evaluate and analyze existing internal and/or external data sets as a means to producing evidence that supports reimbursement.
    • Ensure currently-enrolling clinical utility studies and/or payer projects are progressing in a way that meets evidence requirements and align with overall product objectives.
    • Liaise across multiple internal teams and functions to ensure payer evidence development initiatives progress in a thorough and timely manner; track and drive completion of assigned tactics.



    ‒      3+ years in a payer health technology assessment and/or clinical validity/utility study design role, or medical science liaison experience in bio-pharma, molecular and/or blood test diagnostics; or equivalent product development/marketing experience

    ‒      Significant assigned product area expertise (oncology or autoimmune or neuroscience) strongly preferred

    ‒      Experience in successful product launches

    ‒      Preferred experience in a role interacting with several internal stakeholders from multiple departments within a company (i.e. commercial, marketing, medical, executive level)

    ‒      Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others

    ‒      Demonstrated ability to achieve goals in a matrix environment

    ‒      In-depth product knowledge and knowledge of disease states in current field of expertise

    ‒      Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience with effectively presenting to senior management

    ‒      Significant Mac or PC knowledge with specific knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Word (preferred)

    ‒      Valid Driver’s License

    ‒      Estimated 40% travel to headquarters (if field-based) or more depending on current location
