The Regional Medical Specialist Manager functions as a field-based member within the Medical Affairs section of the Oncology Business Unit. The primary job of the RMS Manager is to set the strategic direction of the RMS team by supporting corporate and business unit goals and exhibiting vision and leadership through strategic thinking and results-oriented coaching.
This regional position requires 50-60% field travel. The majority of travel is within a defined geographic region, but additional travel is required for other educational or corporate meetings.
The location can be anywhere in the Western US.
1) Personnel Management and Employee Development
a) Recruiting and Hiring
i) Recruits, interviews and hires quality professionals that meet team and corporate needs
b) Coaching and Developing
i) Motivates employees by creating conditions for continuous development
ii) Helps RMS to define and achieve personal and professional goals
iii) Provides continuous evaluation of RMS developmental plan and coaches around identified needs
iv) Utilizes coaching in career planning and promotion discussions
v) Reinforces new employee training
c) Managing and Measuring Performance
i) Monitors ongoing progress of focus accounts with individual employees
ii) Manages the evolution of the RMS role in their support of the sales team
iii) Travels with RMS to evaluate and coach their performance in the field
iv) Develops/assesses metrics and analyzes impact of RMS interventions
v) Works with HR to develop and communicate action plan as needed
2) Business Unit Alignment
a) Leadership and Project Management
i) Ensure alignment with business unit strategic initiatives and accountability for Medical Affairs’ business plan goals
ii) Demonstrate and acknowledge value of an individual/team
iii) Provide clear direction with specific goals/objectives
iv) Build team synergy within and across teams
b) Organizational Impact
i) Administer company policy/procedures fairly and consistently
ii) Monitor budget and expense reports
iii) Plan and conduct motivational meetings
iv) Assist in strategizing/problem-solving issues related to the Medical Services department, the RMS team, field team and/or customers
v) Foster high performing working relationships with other Myriad departments
vi) Work with existing professional organizations as required
