Myriad Genetics is looking for one (1) qualified individual to fill the role of Medical Science Liaison – Biomarkers. The successful candidate will join Myriad’s Medical Service team and will report to the Oncology Medical Affairs Director.


This position can be located anywhere within the US, not just Utah. 


40-50% Travel - This is a national position.  Candidates must be able to travel on a regular basis.




The MSL, Biomarkers, will play a key role in multiple cross-divisional projects that further the commercial impact of Myriad’s portfolio of biomarker products.  The MSL liaises internally, by supporting initiatives that span clinical, marketing, and managed care functions, as well as externally, by fostering relationships with key opinion leaders that inform our business and increase awareness of our products.  Importantly, the MSL must be able to make substantive contributions to the further clinical development of Myriad’s biomarker assays, myChoice HRD and Endopredict.  This aspect of the job requires an understanding of clinical trial design, basic statistics, and a penchant for analysis.  It also requires an ability to maintain productive relationships with collaborators, often KOL’s.  In addition to these responsibilities, the MSL supports AE, RMS, and medical services training, and often provides clinical support to the field.  Frequent travel is necessary to provide physician education and participate in major society meetings.




Clinical Expertise:

  • Stays current on research in breast prognostics and companion diagnostics. Reviews literature for publications that impact our business.
  • Delivers clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare practitioners about the science behind Myriad’s biomarker assays, including myChoice HRD and Endopredict.
  • Actively participates in meetings with relevant national organizations on behalf of Myriad (SABCS, ASBS, ASCO, SGO).
  • Monitors the changing landscape of competition within the breast cancer prognostic and companion diagnostic space.
  • Provides clinical support to field by answering questions from the field and speaking with physicians who have questions
  • Develops tools for and assists AE and RMS education (for sales meetings presentations or national update).
  • Attends and supports Manager Team Meetings approximately quarterly, as needed based on priority developing RMS specific messaging in collaboration with the RMS managers


KOL development:

  • Establishes and develops KOL relationships important for our business
  • Facilitates speaker training
  • Develops relationship with leadership of surgical and oncology organizations (ASBS, ASCO, SGO)
  • Supports sponsorship of CMEs



Assay clinical development:

  • Supports clinical development of Myriad’s biomarker assays for indication expansion and guideline inclusion
  • Helps design and enroll clinical registries
  • Handles request for investigator-initiated studies
  • Supports scientific vetting of new products or product expansions
  • Supports managed care team in making clinical utility claims for medicare and private insurer coverage decisions



Organizational Interactions:


Will require frequent travel (3-4 days per week, occasional weekends for conferences / meetings).

Functions as resource and active participant for biomarker products

Collaborates with Marketing and Professional Support team on development and review of marketing materials, slide sets and other collateral, collecting feedback from the RMS team.

Collaborates with Marketing on speaker trainings, regional advisory boards and ongoing sales material.

Collaborates with Clinical Affairs to disseminate results of development expanding indications for biomarker products.



Meets minimum education and experience requirements:

Advanced degree with experience in breast and/or ovarian cancer. Preference for candidates with existing relationships with thought leading breast oncologists and surgeons.

Deep understanding of breast prognostics and companion diagnostics.

Experience with research protocols.

A minimum of five years post-graduate clinical  or research experience. 

Experience facilitating research projects as well as communicating research results to a variety of audiences.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Previous experience in Medical Affairs role is ideal.
